Mamoru Shimokochi is Partner and Creative
Director of Shimokochi-Reeves. During his more
than 30 year career, he has created some of the
most powerful and recognizable identities.


Originally from Japan, Mamoru graduated with a
B.F.A. with honors from the Art Center College of
Design, Pasadena, CA and was hired immediately
by the legendary Saul Bass. As Senior Designer
with Saul Bass & Associates, Mamoru created
such indelible corporate identities and packaging
as: United Airlines, United Way, California Cheese,
Avery, Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal and AT&T.


He became one of the partners of Carra, Flynn &
Shimokochi before joining forces with Anne Reeves
to establish Shimokochi-Reeves.

The combination of Mamoru’s creative passion
with Anne’s market-driven sense of purpose
resulted in a powerful visual branding partnership
that has been serving clients in the U.S. and
abroad for over 20 years.


Mamoru has taught design at Art Center, Otis
Parsons, and guest lectured at UCLA and at
universities in Japan. He is the recipient of
numerous awards, both national and international,
and the firm’s work is featured in publications
worldwide.


Mamoru is an accomplished fine art painter and
his paintings have been exhibited in galleries and
juried shows. His work hangs in corporate and
private collections.
